Recruitment Guru Aaron Vasant Leading Canadian Resume Writing

With the digitization happening around the world today, recruitment is the next industry becoming reliant on technology. More and more companies have chosen to integrate technology into their talent processes when it comes sourcing, filtering and finding the right fit for their job vacancy. For the average job seeker, this can make finding a job even more challenging.

LinkedInGuru Founder and CEO Aaron Vasant shares his experience working at the forefront of this change and how job seekers can thrive on this AI advancement. As a recruiter turned career coach, his experience of leading talent strategy across some of Canada’s largest companies within the Cannabis, CPG, and Technology industry allowed him to see this trend come to fruition.

Aaron explains, “with the introduction of ATS (applicant tracking systems) and keyword scanners, the front end or early stages of the recruitment process is now almost never done by the human eye. ATS can scan and filter those who possess specific keywords and skills using data-driven recruitment software. Almost 75% of the applicants will not make it to the initial screening process, meaning their resume will never be seen by a human.”

Today, almost 99% of Fortune 500 companies and a growing number of small and mid-sized businesses filter resumes through an ATS before someone takes a look. If you’re applying to a large organization, chances are you’ll face an ATS. If you’re applying through any online form, you’re applying through an ATS. Even job sites like Indeed and LinkedIn have their own built in ATS.

He noticed there was an extreme gap in knowledge from the candidate and job seeker perspective on what a strong and modern-day resume looks like while having the knowledge on how to actually beat the ATS system. Many clients that he has worked with expressed their frustration about this new development, and that they have applied to hundreds of jobs but received almost no responses.

Aaron noted, “the average number of job applicants per posting has been increasing exponentially throughout the recent years. The talent marketplace is extremely competitive and if you put things into perspective a company like Amazon who is getting thousands of applications per job, does not have time to go through every single application. They want to find the best talent, as quick as possible. Not to mention, it’s counterproductive for them to swift through candidates resumes who do not even meet the minimum qualifications threshold, this is where the technology comes in and it is here to stay.”

Throughout the course of his MBA, Aaron began to research how ATS works including the core  functionality behind the systems, rankings based on job description relatability, keyword relevance by industry, and what fields of a resume are actually picked up by these scanners. He found a variety of remarkable discoveries and he decided to build his own company – LinkedInGuru.ca on these common patterns to help get candidates noticed.

“The company’s strategy and success formula are built on the combination of artificial intelligence, design, and personality used to optimize and establish the credibility of your resume and online presence,” Aaron explains. Now, beating the ATS system was not only Aaron’s goal. He knew that even if a candidate was able to get through initial screening the importance of a strong personal brand will take their application to the next level. From his experience as a head-hunter, he recognized that the #1 place where recruiters or HR professionals will go to research a candidate further is LinkedIn.

When most people talk about social media, they’re usually referring to platforms like Facebook or Instagram, but rarely think of LinkedIn as part of the vast array of social media platforms available. If someone Googles you, your LinkedIn profile will show up in the first or second spot.

It’s no surprise to find out that 87% of recruiters regularly use LinkedIn. In fact, a study found that 122 million people received an interview through LinkedIn, with 35.5 million having been hired by a person they connected with on the site.

What’s next? Aaron plans to continue growing the LinkedInGuru brand as one of the leading resume writing and branding services throughout Canada. Being able to contribute to the growth, well being and success of candidates worldwide has become an internal passion for Aaron and never imagined the company reaching the current heights it has achieved.

LinkedInGuru has been able to help job seekers land their dream jobs at some of the world’s top companies, such as Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Tesla, Google, and a whole lot more. His company is proud that there is a success rate of 94%, where his clients receive an interview in 60 days or less. It is an unbeatable score compared to their competitors offering the same service.
