Suizhou Daily News (All Media Reporter Zhang Qin) People are tracing the root and joining in the grand ceremony. On June 13th, the 26th day of the fourth lunar month, the birthday of Emperor Yan, and the grand ceremony of paying respects to Emperor Yan Shennong in the year of Guimao (2023) was held in Suizhou, the hometown of Emperor Yan. Chinese people at home and abroad once again gathered at the Mount Lie to remember the merits and virtues of their ancestors, communicate their ties, inherit the spirit of Emperor Yan, and build up the consciousness of the Chinese nation community.

Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Zhou Qiang, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Wang Menghui, Secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, and Wang Zhonglin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Governor of Hubei Province, attended the ceremony. Sun Wei, Chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, presided over the ceremony.

Yan Emperor Shennong, the founder of humanities, is brilliant with achievements; His contribution to the people is beneficial to all sides. In the scenic area of Yan Emperor’s hometown, banners flying, symbolizing the spirit of Emperor Yan. The guests tidy up their clothes, wear yellow scarves, and under the guidance of the sacrificial array, pass through the Four Ox Farming Stone Carving, Nine Arch Bridge, Huaxia Ancestral Gate, Sacred Fire Platform, and Seven Steps Ascending Heavenly Platform to reach the solemn Ancestor’s Square, facing the Yan Emperor Shennong Hall and standing in awe.

In the preface of the grand ceremony, the short film “Showing the Merit and Virtue of the Ancestor” and “Music and Dance of Supporting the Plow” praise the great achievements of Emperor Yan in teaching the people to sow grain and invent agriculture.

At around 8:40, the ancestor worship ceremony officially began.

The grand ceremony consists of nine procedures:

Start the drum and ring the bell. On site, drums were struck and chimes were sounded, resonating everywhere and spreading throughout history and present.

Respectfully open the holy gate. Wang Menghui walked forward slowly, bowed three times to the temple, and then pushed the “plow”. The main hall gate slowly opened, and the statue of Yan Emperor Shennong appeared in front of the Chinese people at home and abroad. All guests present the “three gifts”.

Ignite a new fire. In the video clip “Passing the New Fire”, the new fire of Emperor Yan was lit all over the world, and Chinese people all over the world shared the spirit of Emperor Yan and carried forward the Chinese civilization. At the ceremony, young students from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese jointly lit a new fire, praised the fire virtue of Emperor Yan, and updated the weather with a new fire.

Offer a floral tribute. Peng Qinghua, Zhou Qiang, Wang Menghui, Wang Zhonglin, Zhang Zhijun, Lin Join-sane, Zuo Zhongyi, Qiao Wei, Li Ying, Luo Pingfei, Wang Weihua, Liu Jiongtian, Huo Weiping, Wang Yanling, Erkenjiang Tulahong, Qian Yuankun and Ke Ke presented flower baskets in batches.

Incense to the ancestors. Guo Weixun, Li Xueya, Gu Xijun, Yu Peng, Wang Wei, Yin Shun, Wu Chengzhen, Jian Hong, Han Zhenghai, Wang Yong, Xu De and Yu Xindong all paid homage to Yan Emperor Shennong.

Read the chant with respect. In the year of Guimao (2023), when the summer is impending, offsprings sang the praises of Emperor Yan in this prime time, and played the songs of Shennong. On the Mount Lie of Suizhou, flags are flying, bells ringing and music playing, phoenix dancing and dragon flying. Best wishes to the birth of Yan Emperor Shennong and praise the glory of civilization… “Wang Zhonglin read the” Ode to Emperor Yan “and praised the glorious achievements of Emperor Yan’s Shennong, declaring the great cause of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Worship our ancestors together. All people stood in awe and bowed to the statue of Yan Emperor Shennong, expressing infinite respect for their ancestors.

Sing the ancestor. The Chinese people dressed in 56 Folk costume, as well as the representatives of ancestor worshippers from four branch venues, sang the “Great Song of the Emperor Yan” to commemorate the achievements and praise the spirit of the Emperor Yan.

Pay homage to the holy image. The on-site guests visited the Yan Emperor Shennong Hall to pay tribute to the statue of Yan Emperor, experience the great achievements of the ancestor up close, and inspire the Chinese people at home and abroad to work together for national rejuvenation and unity.

In a warm and peaceful atmosphere, the ancestor worship ceremony was completed.

The commemoration of the Yan Emperor Shennong Festival in the year of Guimao (2023) is an important part of the World Chinese Root Tracing Festival in the hometown of Yan Emperor. This year’s Root Tracing Festival continues the theme of “One Family from All over the World, Realize the Chinese Dream”, and is co sponsored by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Federation of Chinese literature and Art Circles, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Chinese Yanhuang Culture Research Association and the People’s Government of Hubei Province. More than 2500 representatives from the political, cultural, religious, corporate, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities, advanced figures, and guests from various sectors of society attended the ceremony on-site. The Chinese International Channel of China Central Radio and Television Corporation, Phoenix TV, Hubei TV, Suizhou Radio and Television Station, and mainstream media at all levels in Hubei Province, as well as major internet media platforms nationwide such as People’s Daily, Xinhua Network, CCTV Network, and China Net, have synchronized global live broadcasts.
