Schneider Electric Partners with the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit to Promote the Role of Sustainability and Digital Transformation in the Global Manufacturing Sector
Schneider Electric is partnering with the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) to focus on the roles that digital transformation and green technologies will play in transforming the manufacturing sector in the United Arab Emirates and globally.
Through the exchange of knowledge and shared programs, Schneider Electric will engage with the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit to help manufacturers best understand how they can leverage digital transformation and green technologies to become more efficient, productive and sustainable. A number of the company’s executives will lead talks on how manufacturers can optimise their operations to create “Factories of the Future”. Schneider Electric will also join the Green Chain initiative, to develop a roadmap to advance the decarbonisation of industry by developing new renewable energy global value chains.
Scheduled to be held at EXPO’s Dubai Exhibition Center from November 22-23, the fourth edition of the Summit (#GMIS2021) offers a unique international platform to share lessons and explore opportunities, as leaders from the global manufacturing and technology communities engage in discussions and debates that are shaping the future of manufacturing and industrialisation.
“Decarbonizing the global economy is about moving away from burning fossil fuels and stepping up electrification and clean energy alternatives. But it’s also about being smarter and more efficient with our resources and energy usage. Here is where Digital technologies can help us making decisions smarter, faster, more precisely – all of which is ultimately better for the planet “ said Luc Remont, Executive Vice-President, International Operations of Schneider Electric. “If we want to achieve this, we need to think big, scale fast and take regular, small but decisive actions for a greener industrial future and a greener planet. Moreover I want to remind you all – optimising energy use while systematically improving process and resource efficiency will transform operations and deliver low carbon emissions. This means more resilience at a lower costs. So, what manufacturer doesn’t want this?”
One of the largest manufacturers in the energy and automation space, Schneider Electric developed its first sustainability strategy several decades ago. Today, seventy percent of the company’s revenues are green, from products that reduce resource consumption. Schneider Electric’s sustainability goals include delivering 800 million tons of saved and avoided CO2 emissions to customers by 2025. Schneider Electric’s sustainability consulting expertise is based on the company’s own journey to become more efficient and less resource intensive; in September of this year the company’s Smart Factory in Lexington, Kentucky was recognised as a Sustainability Lighthouse – one of only three worldwide – by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Schneider Electric’s technology led to a 26% energy reduction (GWh), 30% net CO2 reduction, and 20% water use reduction at the facility.
Badr Al-Olama, Head of the GMIS Organising Committee, said: “Sustainability and climate action are central to our mission at GMIS and we are committed to partnering with organisations that recognise the importance of making a positive impact on the environment. For years, Schneider Electric has consistently delivered on their promise to improve our planet while developing disruptive digital solutions across sectors, including infrastructure and data centres. We are proud to partner with Schneider Electric to promote widespread growth and innovation in the industrial world while shaping an environmentally sustainable future for all.”
#GMIS2021 is a joint initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. With the event coinciding with Dubai Expo, the Summit will position industrialisation at the center of the global dialogue, reinforcing the sector’s important role in driving economic growth and global prosperity. Under the theme ‘Rewiring Societies: Repurposing Digitalisation for Prosperity’, #GMIS2021 will explore the importance of data intelligence and connectivity, and the evolving mechanisms of interaction between humans and machines in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
#GMIS2021 will be held during the six-day GMIS Week from November 22-27, featuring over 200 global speakers. The GMIS Week will include a Global Prosperity Conference and an Alternative & Renewable Energy Conference – The Green Chain Conference – on November 24 and country focused conferences in partnership with the United Kingdom, Australia and Italy. The event will also run a six-day manufacturing and advanced technology exhibition to showcase some of the UAE’s most innovative capabilities.
